Our English credential program prepares you for teaching English and/or ELL (English Language Learning) at the secondary classroom levels. All coursework builds on recent research and actual classroom practices. We maintain close ties to the UC Davis Area 3 Writing Project as a critical resource for new English teachers.

First Year Courses
The coursework during the first year is focused and intensive, enabling you to complete the courses and student-teaching component required for the Teaching Credential in three academic quarters.

EDU 306 ABC: Teaching in the Secondary Schools
B-Level CPR. Must Include CPR for adults, children, and infants. First aid not required.

EDU 152: Communication Skills for Bilingual Teachers
Plus additional seminars in Education 306ABC.
Additional course for English Credential only:
EDU 325: Research & Methods in Secondary English Language Arts
Second Year Coursework (Completion of Master of Arts in Education)
The second year will be dedicated to working within the professional classroom setting, identifying and researching practical issues and approaching them from an informed analytical viewpoint. You will take courses on a part-time basis, allowing you to work in your professional field as a full-time teacher.
